Every year on 15 December, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) Foundation Day is observed to commemorate the establishment of one of India’s most respected educational organizations. Founded in 1963, KVS was created with the noble objective of providing uniform, quality education to the children of transferable Central Government employees, especially defence personnel.
Kendriya Vidyalayas have played a vital role in promoting national integration by bringing together students from diverse cultural, linguistic, and regional backgrounds under a common curriculum. Affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and academically supported by NCERT, KVs ensure continuity of education for students whose families frequently relocate across the country.
KVS Foundation Day is an occasion to reflect on the organization’s enduring commitment to academic excellence, discipline, and value-based education. Schools celebrate the day through special assemblies, talks, exhibitions, quizzes, cultural programmes, and library activities that highlight the history, vision, and achievements of Kendriya Vidyalayas.
As KVS continues its journey, it remains dedicated to nurturing knowledgeable, responsible, and socially aware citizens, staying true to its motto “Tat Tvam Pooshann Apavrunu”, which emphasizes the pursuit of truth and enlightenment.
